Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)

As a Chartered Energy Manager with the Energy Institute, David Collier is eligible to act as Lead Energy Assessor for ESOS.

Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is mandatory for companies that have either 250 or more employees in the UK and/or an annual turnover exceeding €50m and a balance sheet exceeding €43m.

The scheme is being introduced by Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in response to Article 8 of the EU’s Energy Efficiency Directive, and DECC estimates the scheme will lead to £1.6 billion net benefits to the UK.

Participation in the scheme involves:
1. Measuring your total energy consumption
2. Conducting energy audits to identify cost-effective energy efficiency recommendations
3. Reporting compliance to the Environment Agency

The time scale is for a compliant ESOS Assessment to have been undertaken between the 6 December 2011 and the 5 December 2015.

Participants in ESOS must have a Lead Assessor to undertake various roles in relation to their ESOS Assessment and the Lead Assessor must belong to a register of energy professionals approved by the Environment Agency.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) guidance which explains the scheme in more detail can be dowloaded from the following link ESOS_Guide.

Yes Oui Si can guide you through the preparation and planning stage.  Yes Oui Si will offer expertise about ESOS whilst at the same time encouraging you to take ownership of the process in order for you to maintain in house control and manage costs.  On completion of the preparation and planning stage we will together have established how you would prefer to manage the ESOS compliance process and Yes Oui Si can then provide a proposal for the implementation and completion stage, which will include a plan and specify the agreed roles and responsibilities.
